Credits pay for the AI work in Bang AI. An Auto Edit costs 40 credits, captions add 10 and spoken overlays add 5, so a typical video comes to about 55. Editing by hand and exporting are free. Every plan has every feature and gives you a set number of credits each month, and you see your balance in Settings on iPhone and the Mac and on the Credits page on the web.
Works on
- iPhone
- Web
- Mac
Bang AI is on iPhone, the web and the Mac.
Steps
- Open your balance: on iPhone, Settings, then Credits; on the Mac, Settings, then Subscription; on the web, the Credits page.
- Before an Auto Edit, check the button. It shows what the version costs with the options you picked.
- Turn Captions or Spoken Overlays off to lower the cost, or leave them on for about 55 credits a video.
- When the button says Get Credits, buy a pack or wait for next month's credits.
- Check History to see each charge, and the credits a failed version gave back.
What costs credits
These are the prices for every account. The Auto Edit button adds up yours before you press it.
- Auto Edit: 40 credits a version. See Auto Edit.
- Captions: 10 credits, once per edit, charged in an Auto Edit with Captions on or the first time you ask for AI keywords and emoji on an edit cut without them. Restyling them, fixing words and refreshing keywords and emoji afterwards cost nothing. See Captions.
- Spoken Overlays: 5 credits, with an Auto Edit, and only when you have overlays in your library. See Spoken overlays.
- Copy Overlays in Edit like a video: 5 credits, with an Auto Edit.
- AI images for overlays: 15 credits for Detailed, 2 for Quick.
- Write Scripts: 20 credits for one script, 35 for two, 50 for three.
- Rewrite: 15 credits. Remix: 20 credits.
- Make It Yours, which rewrites a script copied from a link for your product: 15 credits.
What's free
Everything you do by hand costs nothing: trimming and splitting clips, swapping in another recording of a line, restyling captions, moving and timing overlays, and undoing. Exporting is free at every resolution, and so is Export Pack, which makes every shape with and without captions.
Some steps on the way are free too. In the iPhone and Mac apps, Open in Editor on the Auto Edit sheet puts your clips in the editor in the order you added them, with nothing cut and no credits spent. In Edit like a video, Copy Pacing and Copy Text add nothing, and Copy From a Link costs nothing.
Credits on each plan
Every plan has every feature. The plans differ in how many credits arrive each month and how much Full-Quality Backup space you get.
- Starter: 4,000 credits a month, about 72 typical videos, and 20 GB of backup.
- Pro: 12,000 credits a month, about 218 typical videos, and 200 GB of backup.
- Ultimate: 25,000 credits a month, about 454 typical videos, and 500 GB of backup.
A yearly plan gives the same credits each month as the monthly plan. Monthly credits don't roll over: what's left when they reset is replaced by the next month's amount.
Bought credits
When a month's credits run low, buy more. Packs come in 1,000 credits, 3,000 credits with 500 extra, and 8,000 credits with 2,000 extra.
Bought credits never expire, and Bang AI spends them only after your monthly credits are gone, so they carry over from month to month. On iPhone, press Get Credits in Settings, then Credits. On the Mac, Settings, then Subscription, has Buy in Browser. On the web, press Buy credits on the Credits page.
Where to see your balance
- iPhone: Settings, then Credits. It shows the credits left, about how many videos that makes, the day more arrive, What costs credits and a History of every charge and return.
- Mac: Settings, then Subscription, which also has Buy in Browser for packs.
- Web: the credits count in the sidebar, and the Credits page. Its Balance splits Monthly from Bought, and History lists every charge.
When your balance is below what a version needs, the Auto Edit button becomes Get Credits and tells you how many you have and how many it needs. A version that fails gives every credit it cost back, and so does an AI image that couldn't be made.
Ask your AI chat
With Bang AI added to ChatGPT, Claude or Claude Code, ask in your own words, or paste one of these:
How many Bang AI credits do I have?
ChatGPT only. Reads your balance and nothing else. Claude and Claude Code can't read or spend credits.
Make a 30-second video from my clips with captions on
ChatGPT only. Opens Bang AI's Auto Edit card, which shows your balance and the cost first. Credits are spent only when you press Auto Edit in the card.
Swap the second line for my other recording
ChatGPT, Claude and Claude Code, on a video you've already cut. An edit from a chat costs no credits.

Limits
- Monthly credits don't roll over. They reset each month on the day shown in Credits.
- Bought credits never expire, and they are spent only after your monthly credits.
- Captions are charged once per edit, in an Auto Edit or on the first AI keywords and emoji run, and Spoken Overlays only with an Auto Edit when you have overlays.
- From a chat, only ChatGPT can read your balance, and only its Auto Edit card spends credits.
- Credit prices are the same on iPhone, the web and the Mac.
Troubleshooting
- The Auto Edit button says Get Credits.
- Your balance is below what this version needs. Turn off Captions or Spoken Overlays to lower the cost, buy a pack, or wait for next month's credits.
- A version failed. Did I lose my credits?
- No. A version that couldn't be cut returns every credit it cost. Check History in Credits to see the return.
- My balance went down at the start of the month.
- Monthly credits don't roll over, so what was left is replaced by the new month's amount. Bought credits stay.
- I bought credits, but my balance hasn't changed.
- Bang AI shows that your credits are on the way while the purchase goes through. Press Refresh in Credits, or open the app again.
- Couldn't read your credits.
- Check your connection and press Try Again. If it still fails, contact support from Settings, then Help.
- My credits say Not enough for a video.
- A typical video needs about 55. Turn off the extras to make one for 40, or get more credits.
Questions, answered.
How many credits does a video cost?
About 55 for a typical one: 40 for the Auto Edit, 10 for captions and 5 for spoken overlays. Turn captions or spoken overlays off and it costs less.
Do unused monthly credits roll over?
No. Monthly credits reset each month. Bought credits are different: they never expire and carry over until you spend them.
Does a bigger plan unlock more features?
No. Every plan has every feature. A bigger plan gives you more credits each month and more Full-Quality Backup space.
Do I get my credits back if an edit fails?
Yes. A version that couldn't be cut returns every credit it cost, and the return shows in your credits History.
Does editing from ChatGPT or Claude cost credits?
Edits from a chat, like cutting a line or fixing a caption, cost nothing. Only ChatGPT's Auto Edit card spends credits, and only when you press Auto Edit in it.
