Best apps for creators, by job
Published · Updated · View as Markdown
There is no single best app for content creators, because a teleprompter, a caption app and a Mac editor do different jobs. These roundups each cover one job, say how we ranked the apps for it, and give each app's strengths and gaps from its own App Store listing or website, with the date we read it. Bang AI, the AI video editor for people who talk to the camera on iPhone, the web and the Mac, is in each of these five lists because we make it, and it isn't first in any of them.
Bang AI is on iPhone, the web and the Mac.

How these lists are made
Every claim about another app comes from its US App Store listing or, where we used its website instead, its developer's own pages. We read them on the date each list shows, and repeat only what they say. Where a listing doesn't mention a feature, we write that it isn't listed rather than that the app lacks it. There are no star ratings or reviews here, because we haven't tested the apps side by side, and no prices, which change too often to keep right.
Where Bang AI fits
Bang AI does one job: it turns clips of you talking to the camera into a cut video. Press Auto Edit and it keeps your strongest lines and cuts the silence and your repeated tries, then adds captions if you turned them on. That makes it strongest on the talking part of a video and weakest on montages, effects and caption files; each list's criteria say where that leaves it. If you want it compared head to head with one app, the comparisons do that.
Which list to start with
Start with the step that costs you the most time. If you lose hours re-recording lines you forget, the teleprompter list comes first. If the edit itself is the slow part, read the Mac and online editor lists, then the beginners' list if you're new to editing. If your videos are cut but get scrolled past on mute, the caption list is the one to read. Most creators end up with two tools: one to film with and one to cut with.
Spot something out of date?
Apps change every few weeks. If a listing has changed since the date a list shows, or we've described an app wrongly, tell us through Support and we'll reread it and fix the page. Each list's date moves when we do, so you can see how fresh it is.
Questions, answered.
Why isn't Bang AI first in these five lists?
Each list ranks by its own criteria, stated on the page. Bang AI is made for talking-to-camera videos, so dedicated teleprompters, caption apps and wider editors beat it on their own jobs.
Are these rankings sponsored?
No. No app paid to be listed, and we have no affiliation with the other apps or their developers. We make Bang AI, which each page says plainly.
How often are the lists checked?
Each list shows the date we last read every app's listing. We reread them when an app changes and move the date when a page changes.
