AI video editor comparisons

Published · Updated

Every video app says it saves you editing. These pages check what each one actually does, feature by feature, against Bang AI, the AI video editor for people who talk to the camera. Each comparison draws on the other app's US App Store listing, or its developer's own site when it has no iPhone app, and on Bang AI's own page, with the date it was checked. Each one also says plainly who the other app suits better.

Compare

How these comparisons are made

We read each app's US App Store listing, its description and release notes, or its developer's own pages when there is no iPhone app from them. A feature is marked "Not listed" when that source doesn't mention it, which doesn't prove the app lacks it, only that it doesn't advertise it. Bang AI's column comes from its home page. Every page shows the date its sources were checked.

What we compare

The rows follow the job a talking-to-camera creator does: who makes the cut, whether ums, pauses and false starts go, whether joins get J and L cuts, how captions work, whether product shots land on the right line, and how many aspect ratios one export gives. Each page also adds rows where the other app is ahead, such as highlight finding, AI actors, dubbing or design templates.

Where Bang AI fits

Bang AI is narrow on purpose. It edits videos of a person talking to the camera: product reviews, unboxings, testimonials, hooks for ads and everyday talking-head posts. It cuts the ums, pauses and false starts, adds J and L cuts, punch-ins and captions, and places your own product shots on the line you say them. It doesn't make avatars, generate footage, design graphics or post for you, and the comparisons say so wherever another app does those things better.

Working with your AI chat

Bang AI also connects to ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code and Codex, so you can ask a chat to cut a line, fix a caption or tighten a video you saved. Of the apps compared here, only Kapwing's site lists a connection to Claude and ChatGPT. If you already spend your day in an AI chat, it is one more way to get a video finished without opening an editor.

Which page to read

Start from the app you use now. Clip long videos? Read OpusClip. Want AI actors or a full timeline? VEED. Edit by hand on your phone? InShot or Edits. Work in a team in the browser? Kapwing. Design graphics and slides as well? Canva. Questions, answered.

Are these comparisons written by Bang AI?

Yes. Bang AI is ours, so we keep every claim about another app to its own listing or site and say who it suits better.

What does "Not listed" mean?

That the other app's App Store listing or developer site doesn't mention the feature as of the date shown. It may still exist.

Can I suggest an app to compare?

Yes. Email f@fridaylunch.studio with the app's name. A page needs a listing or developer site with enough detail to compare fairly.

How often are the comparisons updated?

Each page shows the date its sources were last checked, and a recheck that changes a row updates the page and its date.

Why aren't prices compared?

Prices and plans change often and differ by country, so these pages compare features only. Each app's own site has its current prices.
