Edit like a video
Published · Updated · View as Markdown
In Bang AI's Auto Edit, press Edit like a video, add a video you'd like yours to feel like from Photos or Files, choose what to copy, then press Auto Edit. Bang AI cuts your own clips at that video's pace, and can match its overlays with yours and write its on-screen text for your product. It works in the iPhone and Mac apps. Copying the pacing and the text is free; copying the overlays adds 5 credits to the Auto Edit.
Works on
- iPhone
- Mac
Bang AI is on iPhone, the web and the Mac.
Steps
- Press Make a Video and add your clips, or open a video and press New Version.
- In the Auto Edit sheet, press Edit like a video, then Add from Photos or Add from Files and pick a video up to 3 minutes long. A video you added before is under Your videos.
- Choose what to copy: Copy Pacing and Copy Text start on and are free, and Copy Overlays starts off and adds 5 credits.
- Set the other options and the length as usual, then press Auto Edit. The button shows the total in credits first.
- Watch the new version, then open it in the editor to fix a caption or swap a clip.
What each switch copies
Once you pick a video, up to three switches appear under it. Bang AI shows only the parts it found in that video, so a video with no on-screen text has nothing for Copy Text to copy.
- Copy Pacing (free, on): how tightly the video cuts and zooms. While it is on, Punch-in Zoom reads "Follows your video" and zooms the way the other video does. See punch-in.
- Copy Overlays (5 credits, off): matches the other video's overlays with ones from your own library. With no overlays of your own, the switch says "Add overlays of your own first". See Spoken overlays for adding some.
- Copy Text (free, on): the video's on-screen text, written for your product.
The rest of the Auto Edit works as usual: your lines, your jump cuts, your captions and your length.
Pick a video to copy
Pick a video where someone talks to the camera, up to 3 minutes long. Bang AI copies the rhythm of what's said, so a montage set to music has nothing to follow. One of your own videos that did well is a good pick, and so is a creator whose pace suits your product.
Every video you add stays in the picker under Your videos, ready for your next Auto Edit, until you delete it. Bang AI keeps its sound and stills, never the video itself, and none of it goes into your video: the cut is made only from your clips. Match another video's style has more on choosing a video by its pace.
Copy From a Link on iPhone
On iPhone you can start from a link instead of a file. In the Notes tab, press + and choose Copy From a Link, then paste a link to an ad or a short video and press Copy the Words. It works with:
- Meta ads: a link from the Meta Ad Library.
- TikTok: videos and TikTok Shop ads.
- Instagram: reels and video posts.
- Facebook: video posts and reels.
Bang AI copies what's said, and how fast, into a new note you can film with the teleprompter. The ad's video also joins your list in Edit like a video, so your next Auto Edit can follow its pace. Copying a link is free, for videos up to 2 minutes and up to 20 new posts a day.
Make It Yours
A copied note holds the other creator's words, written about their product. Make It Yours rewrites them for yours for 15 credits. Open the note, press Make it yours, pick your product from one of your videos, choose how close to the ad your version stays and, if you like, anything to say or avoid, like "Say it's fragrance-free". Then press Write My Version.
The new script lands in the note, ready to film with the teleprompter. Film it, then run Auto Edit with Edit like a video set to the same ad, and your video follows the ad's pace in your own words.
What it costs
Edit like a video adds to an Auto Edit, which costs 40 credits. Copy Pacing and Copy Text add nothing, and Copy Overlays adds 5. Captions and Spoken Overlays add 10 and 5 as usual, and the Auto Edit button shows the total before you press it. If a version fails, its credits come back.
Copy From a Link is free. Make It Yours costs 15 credits each time you write a version. Credits lists everything else that costs credits.
Ask your AI chat
With Bang AI added to ChatGPT, Claude or Claude Code, ask in your own words, or paste one of these:
Auto edit my clips into a short video
ChatGPT only. Opens Bang AI's Auto Edit card for a plain first cut. The card can't copy another video, so run Edit like a video in the iPhone or Mac app when you want its pace.
Cut pauses longer than half a second
ChatGPT, Claude and Claude Code, on a video you've already cut. Tightens the saved video after the cut. Cut pauses don't come back from the chat.
Make the captions bigger and move them lower
All three chats. Restyles the captions on the saved video after the cut, for a look closer to the video you copied.
Add the title 'Get up. Stay up.' from 0:19 to the end
All three chats. Adds a line of on-screen text to the saved video. A chat can add text and shapes, but not pictures.

Limits
- Edit like a video is in the iPhone and Mac apps. It isn't on the web, and no AI chat can start it.
- The video you copy can be up to 3 minutes long, and someone has to talk in it.
- Copy From a Link is on iPhone only, for videos up to 2 minutes, and up to 20 new posts a day.
- Copy From a Link reads the Meta Ad Library, TikTok, Instagram and Facebook. It can't copy from YouTube.
- Copy Overlays uses overlays from your own library, so it needs at least one.
- Your video is always cut from your own clips. Nothing from the other video appears in it.
Troubleshooting
- Longer than 3 minutes.
- Pick a shorter video, or trim it in Photos and add the trimmed copy.
- Couldn't hear anyone talking, or has no sound to copy the pacing from.
- Bang AI follows what's said, so it needs a video with speech. Pick one where someone talks to the camera.
- Couldn't read this video, or didn't finish uploading.
- Remove it from Your videos and add it again from Photos or Files.
- Copy Overlays says Add overlays of your own first.
- Add a product shot, screenshot or logo to your overlays, then pick the video again. Copy Pacing and Copy Text work without any.
- No one talks in this video, or this video is over 2 minutes.
- Copy From a Link needs a video under 2 minutes with someone talking. Try another post from the same creator.
- Couldn't find this ad, or couldn't open that post.
- Copy the link again from the Meta Ad Library, TikTok, Instagram or Facebook, and check the post is still up.
- You've copied 20 new posts today.
- Copy From a Link copies up to 20 new posts a day. Try again tomorrow, or add a saved video from Photos or Files.
- I can't find Edit like a video.
- It is in Auto Edit in the iPhone and Mac apps. On the web, open the video in the Mac app instead.
Questions, answered.
Can I use Edit like a video on the web?
Not yet. It is in the iPhone and Mac apps only, and Copy From a Link is on iPhone only. The web app's Auto Edit has every other option.
Does the other video's footage end up in mine?
No. Your video is cut only from your own clips. Bang AI keeps the other video's sound and stills to read its pace, and keeps a copied ad's video too, until you delete it.
Can my AI chat edit like a video?
No. No chat can pick a video to copy or copy from a link. Run Edit like a video in the app, then ask ChatGPT, Claude or Claude Code to polish the saved video.
Can I copy from a YouTube link?
Not yet. Copy From a Link works with the Meta Ad Library, TikTok, Instagram and Facebook. For anything else, save the video and add it from Photos or Files.
Can I copy a video longer than 3 minutes?
No. Pick a video of 3 minutes or less, or a shorter cut of the same video. Videos from a link can be up to 2 minutes.
