Who Bang AI is for

Bang AI for teachers and tutors

Published · Updated · View as Markdown

Teachers and tutors are already good on camera: explaining one idea clearly is the job. What eats the time is cutting the pauses, the "wait, let me say that again" and the moment the bell went. Bang AI, the AI video editor for people who talk to the camera, cuts short lesson videos for you on iPhone, the web and the Mac. Explain the idea, press Auto Edit, and the version you get keeps your best lines in order, with captions if you want them.

What gets in the way, and the fix

The problemHow Bang AI handles it
Restarting a sentence until the explanation comes out rightRestart freely; Auto Edit keeps one try of each line and cuts the rest.
Pauses while you think, point or write on the boardThe silence between lines is cut, so the lesson keeps moving.

What you get

  • Short lessons cut in the order you taught them
  • Diagrams and formulas on screen as you name them
  • Captions you can fix for technical terms
  • The same videos on iPhone, the web and the Mac

Short videos that teach one thing

A short lesson video works when it answers one question a student actually asks: why do we carry the one, what's the difference between affect and effect, how do I start an essay. Say the question in the first line, answer it in three steps, and end with a quick check the viewer can try.

This suits revision tips before exams, a reminder for a class, a flipped lesson students watch at home, or a tutor's public videos that bring in new students. Keep each video under two minutes and make another for the next idea.

Explain freely, then let the cut tidy it

You explain best when you're not reading. Say it the way you would at the board, and restart a sentence when it comes out tangled. Auto Edit keeps your strongest lines, cuts the silence and your repeated tries at a line, and cuts um, uh and erm while Remove Ums is on.

Leave Let AI Reorder off, which is how it starts, so the steps of an explanation stay in the order you taught them. Pick Auto to keep every good line, or Custom for a target from 10 seconds to 3 minutes. On iPhone, the teleprompter in the Camera tab shows the video's script for the parts you want word for word, such as a definition.

Diagrams, formulas and screenshots

Most lessons need one picture: a diagram, a formula, a page of a set text. Add it to your Overlays library and name it with the words you'll say, like "water cycle". While you film, say "overlay the water cycle" and keep explaining. With Spoken Overlays on, Auto Edit cuts the cue and puts the picture beside that sentence, placed clear of your face.

If you'd rather not leave the lesson for a design app, Create Overlay's Describe makes an AI image from a sentence, on every platform.

Captions, and what they can't do

Captions help students who watch on mute, who are learning in a second language, or who need to read along. Turn on Captions in the Auto Edit and the version arrives captioned word by word in English or Spanish. Fix a technical term it misheard by tapping the caption in the iPhone and Mac apps, or with Edit words on the web.

Bang AI's captions are burned into the video. It doesn't export SRT or VTT files, so if your school's platform needs a separate caption file, use a tool that makes one; our auto caption roundup names one whose listing imports and exports SRT.

Where it fits, and where it doesn't

Bang AI is for videos where you talk to the camera. A screen recording of a slideshow with your voice over it, or an hour-long recorded lecture, suits a transcript editor better; our Mac editors roundup covers one made for screen recordings. An interview with a student or colleague is two people talking; the two-person template explains how Auto Edit treats two voices. It doesn't host or post your videos: you export them and share them where your students are.

Questions, answered.

What is the best video editor for teachers?

For short explainers you say to the camera, an editor that cuts by speech saves the most time, and Bang AI makes that cut. For screen-recorded lessons, a transcript editor fits better.

Can I add a diagram while I explain it?

Yes. Add the diagram to your Overlays library, name it, and say "overlay" and the name while filming. Auto Edit places it beside that sentence.

Can I get a caption file for my school's platform?

No. Bang AI burns captions into the video and doesn't export SRT or VTT. Export Pack on iPhone and the Mac also saves a copy without captions.

Does it work for lessons in Spanish?

Yes. Auto Edit understands English and Spanish speech, and captions follow the words it hears in either language.

How long can one lesson video be?

A Custom length goes up to 3 minutes, and Auto keeps every good line however long that makes the video. Each clip's sound can be up to 30 minutes.
