Two person UGC video template

Published · Updated · View as Markdown

A two person UGC video turns a pitch into a conversation: one of you asks or doubts, the other answers, and the viewer listens in. This template covers two setups, both people on camera or one asking from behind the phone, with beats for each. When both voices say enough in a clip, Bang AI's Auto Edit reads them as two people, so it doesn't count one person's line as a retry of the other's, and it treats a much quieter voice as someone off camera whose prompts are usually cut. It can still cut a line it judges weaker or off script, so watch the version before you export.

Bang AI is on iPhone, the web and the Mac.

How to use it

  1. Choose a setup: both of you on camera, or one asking from behind the phone.
  2. Write the five beats for that setup, with each answer as a full sentence that stands on its own.
  3. Place the phone so both on-camera voices are close and similarly loud, or so the asker is behind it.
  4. Film several exchanges in each clip, every question with its answer.
  5. Upload the clips, leave Let AI Reorder off, and press Auto Edit.
  6. Watch the version to check every line you meant to keep is there, then export.

Variations

The skeptic and the fan

One person loves the product and the other doubts it, and the test beat settles it on camera.

When to use it: For products with a reputation to overcome, or a price viewers will question.

The quick-fire interview

Five short questions from behind the phone, each answered in one sentence and all filmed in one clip, so the questions can be cut and the answers run back to back.

When to use it: For what's-in-my-bag, routine or favourites videos, where the list of answers is the content.

Putting it to work

  • In the interview setup, answer in full sentences: "My favourite part is the strap" works once the question is gone, "The strap" doesn't.
  • Keep talk about the shoot itself, like "wait, say that again", short, and restart the line cleanly after it.
  • A wide lens or a step back keeps both faces in the 9:16 frame, so neither of you sits at the edge.

Pick your setup first

Both on camera. Two people in the frame, talking to each other or to the lens. It suits couples, friends, a parent and child, or a skeptic and a fan of the product. The video is the exchange, so both voices stay.

One behind the phone. Someone off camera asks questions and you answer to the lens. It suits interview and street-style videos where only the answers should be heard. The asker's lines are prompts, there to get you talking.

Beats when both of you are on camera

  1. The setup line. One person states the situation: "She thinks this blender is a waste of money."
  2. The doubt. The other pushes back in their own words.
  3. The test. You try it together, both reacting as it happens.
  4. The turn. The doubter says what changed their mind, or doesn't.
  5. The send-off. Either of you says who it's for and where the link is.

Beats for the off-camera interview

  1. First question. Asked from behind the phone: "What's in your gym bag today, and what do you grab first?"
  2. The answer. You answer in a sentence or two that make sense without the question, since it is usually cut.
  3. Follow-up. "Why that one over the one you had before?"
  4. The reason. Your honest reason, with the product in hand.
  5. The close. A line to the lens on where to find it.

What Auto Edit does with two voices

Auto Edit reads what each voice says in a clip. It reads a clip as two people only when the second voice says enough of it: at least four words, and about one word in eight of the clip. Then it doesn't count one person's line as a retry of the other's, even when you both say nearly the same words, and each person's own repeated tries are still compared, so if you restart a sentence, your clearest version stays. It can still cut either person's line that it judges weaker or off script, so watch the version before you export.

In a clip read as two people, Auto Edit compares how loud the voices are. A voice much quieter than the other is read as someone off camera, and that person's prompts are usually cut. A short question before a long answer can fall under one word in eight, so the clip is read as one voice and the question stays in. Keep each answer to a sentence or two, or film several exchanges in one clip, and cut any question left in from the editor. Auto Edit reads the two people within each clip, so keep a question and its answer in the same clip rather than filming each person separately.

Recording two voices so the edit can tell them apart

For the both-on-camera setup, sit or stand close to the phone and at a similar distance from it, and speak at a similar volume. A person far from the phone can sound quiet enough to read as off camera. For the interview setup, the asker stands behind the phone and you stand in front of it, so your voice is the clearly louder one. Watch the new version before you export, and if a line went missing, press New Version or fix it in the editor.

Cutting and exporting the conversation

Leave Let AI Reorder off, so a reply never lands before its question. J and L Cuts on smooths the hand-offs between speakers, and Remove Ums tidies both voices. With a length picked, Auto Edit keeps your hook and your call to action and drops weaker lines until it is near the target. Captions follow both voices' words. On iPhone and the Mac, Export Pack makes 9:16, 4:5 and 1:1 copies with and without captions; on the web, export one shape at a time.

Questions, answered.

Will Auto Edit cut my partner's line because it sounds like mine?

Not as a retry of yours. When Auto Edit reads a clip as two people, it doesn't count one person's line as a repeated try of the other's, even with similar words. It can still cut a line it judges weaker or off script, so watch the version and fix it in the editor.

How do I get the interviewer's questions cut?

Have the person asking stand behind the phone, so their voice is much quieter than yours, and keep your answers to a sentence or two. Auto Edit usually cuts a much quieter voice's prompts. A short question before a long answer can be read as one voice and stay in, so check the version and cut any question left in from the editor.

Why did my co-star's lines disappear?

Their voice was probably much quieter than yours, so it was read as off camera. Film again closer together, at a similar volume, and press New Version.

Can we film each person in a separate clip?

You can, but Auto Edit reads two people within a clip, not across clips. Keep each exchange in one clip so a reply stays with its question.
