UGC testimonial video template

A testimonial is a story with a result in it. It persuades because a real person describes a real change, so the worst thing it can sound like is a script. This template gives you five lines to speak, each a prompt rather than a sentence to memorise, so you answer in your own words. Bang AI's Auto Edit then removes the ums and restarts that come with speaking naturally and joins your answers into one smooth take.

How to use it

  1. Print or note the five prompts somewhere you can glance at between takes.
  2. Sit a little back from the lens with a clip-on mic or the camera close by.
  3. Read a prompt, look away, then answer it to the camera in your own words.
  4. Move to the next prompt only once an answer felt natural; restarts are fine.
  5. Upload the answers to Bang AI and press Auto Edit to join them into one take.

Variations

The interview testimonial

Have someone off camera ask the five prompts as questions, and keep your answers; cut their questions out by hand in the Mac app.

When to use it: When you're filming a customer who isn't used to talking to a camera alone.

The day-in-the-life testimonial

Answer the change beat while doing the thing the product helped with, and keep the other beats seated.

When to use it: For services and habits, such as a meal kit, a fitness program or a budgeting app, where the routine is the proof.

Putting it to work

  • Film the result line again at the end of the session; people often say it better once they've told the whole story.
  • Keep a clip-on mic or the camera close, since the cut follows your words and needs them clear.
  • In the Mac app, swap a flubbed line for a better take of it rather than filming the whole testimonial again.
  • Ask the person to name the product in their own sentence at least once, so the video still makes sense when someone watches it without sound and reads the captions.

Five prompts, answered your way

  1. The result. What's different now? Lead with it, and use a number if it's true.
  2. Before. One or two details about where you started, specific enough to picture.
  3. The decision. What made you try it at that moment.
  4. The change. What happened and how long it took, including anything that surprised you.
  5. Who should hear this. Speak directly to that person, as if they were across the table.

Sounding unscripted

Read each prompt, look away, then answer to the lens. You will stumble, restart and say um; that's what a natural answer sounds like while you're finding it. Bang AI cuts by what you said, so the false starts and fillers go while your phrasing stays your own. Keep the claims to what actually happened to you, which is also what most brands and platforms require.

Making one framing feel alive

Testimonials are usually one person, one angle, for a minute. A single frame can feel long, so sit a little back from the camera. The edit punches in on some lines, giving the one framing a closer frame now and then, and J and L cuts carry your voice across the joins between answers.

Questions, answered.

Should a testimonial be scripted?

Prompted, not scripted. Knowing the five beats keeps you on track, while answering in your own words keeps it believable.

Can I mention specific numbers or results?

Only ones that are true for you, and follow the brand's and the platform's rules for health, money and before-and-after claims.

How does Bang AI handle the restarts?

Auto Edit finds false starts like "wait, let me say that again" by what you said and keeps the take that follows, along with removing ums and long pauses.
