UGC product review video template

A product review works when it sounds like advice from a friend who already bought the thing. This template gives you five beats to film, in order, for a 30 to 60 second review: verdict, context, demo, drawback, recommendation. Film each beat as its own short take, then let Bang AI's Auto Edit cut the ums and pauses, add J and L cuts and punch-ins, and caption it.

How to use it

  1. Write one line for each of the five beats on a card, starting with the verdict.
  2. Set the product within reach and frame yourself chest up, a little wide.
  3. Film each beat as its own short take, repeating any line until it sounds like you.
  4. Upload the takes to Bang AI on the web or the Mac and press Auto Edit.
  5. Check the captions, swap any flubbed line in the Mac app, then export.

Variations

The comparison review

Hold the product next to the one you used before, and make the context beat a quick side by side of what changed.

When to use it: When the viewer probably owns a competitor already, such as a phone case, a protein powder or a skincare staple.

The week-later review

Film the verdict and the catch after a week of real use, and cut in a short clip from the first day as the demo.

When to use it: For products whose result takes time to show, like skincare, supplements or a new habit tracker.

The fast verdict

Drop the context beat and keep each remaining line to one sentence, for a 15 to 20 second cut.

When to use it: When the brand wants a hook-heavy ad cut or you're testing several openings against each other.

Putting it to work

  • Write the verdict line last: once you've filmed the demo, you'll know which single quality is worth leading with.
  • Keep the product in your hand or on the desk in every take, so a punch-in on it always has something to show.
  • Export 9:16, 4:5 and 1:1 together from the Mac app if the brand runs the review as an ad on several placements.

The five beats

  1. Verdict first. "This is the only sunscreen that doesn't sting my eyes." Viewers decide in the first seconds whether to stay, so give them the conclusion up front.
  2. Why you. What problem sent you looking, and what didn't work before.
  3. Show it. The product in use, close to the camera, while you name its single best quality.
  4. The catch. One real downside. It is what makes the rest believable.
  5. Who it's for. Name the person who should buy it, and point to your link or code.

Why this order holds attention

Starting with the verdict answers the viewer's question before they can scroll away, and the rest of the video becomes the evidence. The drawback near the end resets trust just before you ask for anything, so the recommendation that follows lands as advice rather than a pitch. Brands that commission reviews often ask for exactly this honesty, because it converts better than praise alone.

Filming it in takes

Record each beat separately and keep the ones that sound natural. Short takes are easy to redo, and you can read from notes between them. Leave a second of stillness before and after each line; Auto Edit trims the dead air, so you don't have to rush. If a line comes out wrong mid-take, just say it again: false starts are cut by what you said.

Questions, answered.

How long should a UGC product review be?

Most land between 30 and 60 seconds once the pauses are cut. Check the brand's brief, since some ask for a fixed length or several cut-downs.

Should I really mention a downside?

Yes, a small and honest one. Viewers trust a review that admits a flaw, and it makes your recommendation at the end more convincing.

Can Bang AI add my product shots?

On the Ultimate plan, in the Mac app, spoken overlays place product shots, logos and codes you've added: say "overlay" and what you want while filming, and the edit drops it on that line.
