Caption style examples

Published · Updated · View as Markdown

A caption style is four choices: the look, how the words animate in, how many words show at once, and which words stand out. These nine caption style examples set all four for a kind of beauty, fitness or tech video, using the options in Bang AI's Captions panel on iPhone, the web and the Mac. The video ideas and pairings are our own suggestions for this page, not rules, so try one on your video and change what doesn't suit you. After the examples: how to pick a pacing for your voice, use highlights, keep one look across your videos and export with or without captions.

Examples

Calm morning skincare routine

Look: Clean. Animation: Fade. Pacing: Phrase. Highlight: Keywords in one soft colour, on the ingredient names only. Emoji: Off.

Why it works: A gentle fade and phrase pacing match a slow, quiet voice, and colouring only the ingredients tells viewers what to look for on the label.

Fast three-product haul

Look: Pop. Animation: Pop. Pacing: One word. Highlight: Emoji set to Some, beside each product's name.

Why it works: One word at a time keeps up with a quick delivery, and an emoji beside each product name works like a bullet point between the three items.

Storytime about a breakout

Look: Aesthetic. Animation: None. Pacing: Lines. Highlight: none. Hide ums and uhs: on.

Why it works: A personal story wants to be read like a message from a friend. Whole lines with no animation stay calm, and hiding the ums keeps the words tidy.

Gym tip, shouted between sets

Look: Caps. Animation: Bounce. Pacing: One word. Highlight: the rep count set to Supersize from its word menu.

Why it works: A bouncing word per beat matches high energy, and the supersized number is the one thing a viewer needs to remember from the tip.

  • One word

Squat form, step by step

Look: Karaoke. Animation: Slide up. Pacing: Phrase. Highlight: Spoken word, so each word is marked as you say it.

Why it works: When viewers copy your movement, the marked word shows exactly where you are in the instruction, even if they glance away and back.

Reading a supplement label

Look: Subtitle. Animation: None. Pacing: Lines. Highlight: Keywords on the numbers you read out, in your brand colour.

Why it works: A label read-through is dense, so whole lines let people read at their own speed, and coloured numbers are easy to find again.

Gadget reveal opener

Look: One word. Animation: Typewriter. Pacing: One word. Highlight: the product's name in a keyword colour.

Why it works: Words that type in one at a time build a little suspense before the reveal, and the coloured name is what the viewer remembers.

App review with feature names

Look: Plate. Animation: Slide up. Pacing: Phrase. Highlight: Keywords on each feature's name, Emoji off.

Why it works: Feature names are what viewers search for later, so colouring them makes the review easy to skim, and no emoji keeps it from feeling busy.

Answering a comment over a screen recording

Look: Bubble. Animation: Fade. Pacing: Lines. Highlight: Keywords on the setting's name, Emoji on Some.

Why it works: The screen is busy, so captions that arrive a line at a time give the viewer one thing to read, then time to watch the taps.

Four choices make a caption style

Turn on Captions in the Auto Edit options, or add them later from the editor's Captions tool. Then open the Captions panel and its tabs: Looks, Fonts, Styles and Effects.

  • Look: Pop, Karaoke, Plate, Caps, Subtitle, Bubble, Aesthetic, Neon, Typewriter, One word, Clean or Spotlight.
  • Animation: None, Pop, Fade, Slide up, Typewriter or Bounce.
  • Pacing: One word, Phrase or Lines at a time.
  • Highlight style: Keywords in a colour you choose, Emoji (Off, Some or Lots) and Spoken word, which marks each word as you say it.

Each example below names one of each. Pick the look on the Looks tab, then set the font, style, animation and pacing on the others.

Match the pacing to your voice

Pacing decides how hard the viewer works to read along. One word at a time suits a fast, punchy delivery and short videos where each word lands like a beat. Phrase follows the way people actually speak, a few words per breath, and suits most talking-to-camera videos. Lines suits slower, denser explanations, where the viewer reads a whole thought and then watches you.

If viewers would have to read faster than you talk, step down from One word to Phrase.

Highlights that guide the eye

A highlight should point at the one word that carries the line: the ingredient, the number, the feature. Keywords colours those words, Emoji adds emoji beside them, and Spoken word marks each word as you say it.

For a single word that matters most, open its menu and choose Supersize or Colour. Press Refresh AI marks to have Bang AI find keywords and emoji again; a word you marked or cleared yourself keeps what you chose. AI keywords and emoji run only in Bang AI, not from an AI chat.

Keep one look across your videos

A brand's videos read as a set when the captions match. Once you like a style, press Apply to all captions to put it on every caption in the video, then Make default for new edits so your next videos start in the same look. You can still restyle any one video afterwards in the editor. For more on each option, see Captions.

Clean words, burned in

Turn on Hide ums and uhs, at the end of the Looks tab, to keep filler words out of the captions. When a name or brand comes out wrong, tap the caption to fix it in the iPhone and Mac apps, or select it and press Edit words on the web.

Captions are burned into the video, so they show wherever you post it. On iPhone and the Mac, Export Pack makes 9:16, 4:5 and 1:1 copies, each with and without captions, for a platform that adds its own. The web exports one shape at a time. Bang AI doesn't export SRT or VTT files.

Questions, answered.

Which caption style is best for TikTok and Reels?

There is no single best one. Phrase pacing with one keyword colour suits most talking videos; move to One word for fast, high-energy clips and Lines for calm explanations.

Can I change the caption style after exporting?

The exported file keeps the captions it was made with. Change the style in the editor, then export the version again. Exporting costs no credits.

Do captions cost extra in Bang AI?

Captions add to an Auto Edit's cost, charged once per edit. Restyling, fixing words and refreshing keywords on that edit cost nothing more. See credits.

Can my AI chat change the caption look?

Yes. ChatGPT, Claude and Claude Code can change the look, resize or move the captions and mark a word with a colour or emoji. They can't run the AI keywords and emoji.

Which languages do the captions work in?

English and Spanish. Captions come from the words Auto Edit hears in your clips, and it understands both languages.
