# How long is your script out loud?

Paste your script to see how long it runs at your speaking speed, which words land in the first 3 seconds, and what runs past a minute.

## How to time a script

Four steps, about a minute.

1. **Paste your script** Or type straight into the box. A blank line or “...” counts as a short pause.
2. **Pick your speed** Slow 130, Normal 160 or Fast 190 words a minute. Not sure? Read 30 seconds out loud, count the words and double it.
3. **Check the yellow words** That’s your hook, what viewers hear in the first 3 seconds. Make it the line that stops the scroll.
4. **Trim to fit** Words with a red underline land after a minute. Cut until the timer turns back to ink.

The maths, kept simple: `length = words ÷ words a minute + 0.5 s for each blank line or “...”`

## Script timing, answered.

**How many words is a 60-second script?**

About 160 at a normal pace. Slow speakers fit about 130, fast ones about 190. Read a paragraph of yours out loud once to find your speed, then set it here.

**How many words is a 30-second script?**

About 80 at a normal pace, 65 slow and 95 fast. Each blank line or “...” you leave in costs another half second.

**Does my script get uploaded anywhere?**

No. The timer runs in your browser, so your script never leaves this device. Nothing is sent or saved, and closing the tab clears it.

**Why does it mark the first 3 seconds?**

That’s your hook. Viewers decide in the first few seconds whether to keep watching, so your opening words should carry the point, not a warm-up.

**Can I read my script while I film?**
