# 3 reasons video template

Published November 1, 2026 · Updated November 1, 2026

A 3 reasons video promises a count in the first line and then pays it off, one reason at a time, so viewers always know how much is left. This template gives you the hook, three reason beats in a deliberate order and a close, for 25 to 45 seconds. Film one clip per reason, and Bang AI's Auto Edit cuts the pauses and ums, keeps your numbered order with Let AI Reorder off, and captions what you say.

Bang AI is on iPhone, the web and the Mac.

## How to use it

1. Pick a subject and write three reasons, then rank them: second-strongest first, quickest in the middle, strongest last.
2. Write a hook that names the number and the subject in one sentence.
3. Film the hook, each reason and the close as separate clips, saying each reason's number aloud.
4. Upload the clips, turn on Punch-in Zoom and Captions, leave Let AI Reorder off and press Auto Edit.
5. In the editor, colour each number with Keywords, check all three reasons survived, then export.

## Variations

### Three reasons not to

Flip the list into reasons someone shouldn't buy, try or do something, and make the close the exception: who it is right for.

**When to use it:** When an honest warning will stand out from praise, or when the product only suits one kind of buyer.

### Three mistakes

Each beat names a mistake and the fix in two lines, with the product as the fix in the last one.

**When to use it:** For tutorials and routines, where viewers recognise their own habits in the list.

### The countdown

Count down from three to one instead of up, saving the strongest as "number one".

**When to use it:** When the top reason is a surprise, and counting down makes viewers wait for it.

## Putting it to work

- Write the three reasons as separate sentences before you rank them. Ranking is easier when you can see them side by side.
- Leave a second of stillness before each spoken number. Auto Edit trims the silence, and the pause gives you a clean start to each clip.
- If two reasons sound alike once filmed, cut one and find another. A list only works when every item is different.
- Keep any proof shot, like a product close-up, inside the reason it supports, not after the close.

## Count, then deliver

1. **The hook with the number.** "Three reasons I stopped buying cheap running shoes." The count is the promise.
2. **Reason one.** Your second-strongest reason, said in one sentence, then one line of proof.
3. **Reason two.** The quickest of the three. It keeps the pace up in the middle.
4. **Reason three.** Your strongest, with the most detail or a demo.
5. **The close.** One line that ties the three together, then your link, code or question to the viewer.

## Which reason goes where

The first reason has to hold viewers who are deciding whether to stay, so it can't be your weakest. The last reason is the one people remember and the one closest to your ask, so it should be your best. That leaves the middle slot for the reason that needs the fewest words. If one of your three needs a long explanation, it's probably two reasons, or it belongs in its own video.

## One clip per reason

Film the hook, each reason and the close as separate clips. Say the number at the start of each one: "Reason two:" or "Number three." Spoken numbers do two jobs. Viewers hear the structure even with the sound low, and the number shows up in the captions. Because each reason sits in its own clip, you can film a reason again without redoing the others, and Auto Edit keeps the clearest of your repeated tries.

## Keeping your numbered order

Let AI Reorder puts lines in the order Auto Edit thinks is best. It starts off, and here it must stay off: a video that says "reason three" before "reason one" falls apart. With it off, your beats stay in the order you filmed them. A length target is still safe to use. With a length picked, Auto Edit keeps your hook and your call to action and trims the weaker lines inside the reasons, so check the version still says all three numbers.

## Marking each reason on screen

A list video needs a visible change at each new reason. Turn on **Punch-in Zoom** in the Auto Edit options: it starts off, and it zooms in after jump cuts and slowly on long shots, so the framing changes at the cuts. Turn on **Captions**, then in the editor try a look with Pacing set to One word or Phrase, and use Keywords to colour the number and the key word of each reason. Emoji, set to Some or Lots, adds emoji beside the words that matter. On iPhone and the Mac, Export Pack makes 9:16, 4:5 and 1:1 copies, each with and without captions.

## Questions, answered.

**Why three reasons and not five?**

Three fits in a short video with room for proof on each one. Five reasons in 40 seconds leaves about one sentence each, which rarely convinces anyone.

**Should I say the number of each reason out loud?**

Yes. A spoken "reason two" tells the viewer where they are, and it appears in the captions, so it reads even with the sound off.

**Can I use a teleprompter for a list video?**

Yes. On iPhone, the Camera tab has a teleprompter that shows the video's Script field, which also guides the auto edit. Keep each reason short enough to say naturally.

**What if Auto Edit cut one of my reasons to hit the length?**

Pick a longer Custom length or Auto, which keeps every good line, and press New Version. Each run is a new version, so the shorter one stays.
