From the terminal, ask it to cut lines, remove pauses, fix captions, move overlays or reframe a moment, and each change is saved to the video in your Bang AI account. Bang AI is the AI video editor for people who talk to the camera; its Auto Edit makes the first cut in the app, and Claude Code handles the changes after. Run claude mcp add --transport http bangai https://api.bangaiapp.com/agent/mcp in your terminal. 2. Start Claude Code in the same folder, run /mcp, choose bangai and sign in with your Bang AI account in the browser window it opens. 3. Ask Claude Code to list your Bang AI videos. 4. Ask for an edit, such as cutting a line or restyling captions. ## What it's for ### Quick fixes between tasks Correct a caption word or cut a stray line without leaving the terminal. ### Batch changes Apply the same caption style, overlay position or audio level across several videos in one request. ## Workflows ### Restyle a week of videos 1. Ask Claude Code to list your latest Bang AI videos. 2. Ask it to set the same caption style on each one. 3. Ask for web editor links and check each video in Bang AI before exporting. ## Why edit video from a coding agent If you already spend your day in Claude Code, opening another app for a caption fix is a context switch. With the server added, the same agent that edits your code can tidy a product video between tasks. It also suits batch work: ask it to apply the same caption style to the last five videos, or to read every script and flag lines over a certain length. ## What Claude Code can change The server gives Claude Code one tool per part of the edit, plus tools to list your videos, read a video's library of clips and sounds, and get a web editor link: - **Script**: cut a line, put back a line you cut, remove a pause or a filler word. - **Clips**: trim, reorder or remove a clip. - **Captions**: change the style, fix a word, split or join caption lines. - **Overlays and pictures**: add text, shapes or a clip from the video's own footage; move, retime, crop or delete a product shot, logo or code already there. - **Framing**: punch in, reframe or move the crop over time. - **Audio**: change levels and music. It reads before it edits, and every change it makes is a new version of the saved video. ## What it can't do The server doesn't start an Auto Edit, render frames, play audio or export files, and it can't spend credits. Make the first cut in Bang AI, and open the video in the app or the web editor to watch and export it. Applied edits are saved over the video; with the web editor open while the edit lands, you can undo it there. ## Prompts to try - "List my Bang AI videos and show the script of the newest." - "Remove every pause longer than a second in that video." - "Set the caption style to bold white with a black outline on my last three videos." - "Switch that video to 1:1 for Instagram." - "Give me the web editor link for it." Claude Code tells you what it changed after each edit. ## Working in a team or a repo Each person adds the server and signs in with their own Bang AI account, so a teammate never reaches your videos. Nothing about your videos is written into the repository you are working in; the sign-in lives in Claude Code's own settings on your machine. ## Checking it's connected Run claude mcp list. bangai shows Needs authentication until you sign in with /mcp, then Connected. The command adds the server only to the folder you ran it in, so run it again in another project, or add --scope user to the command to use Bang AI in every project. ## Limits and trademarks Bang AI suits talking-to-camera videos with clear speech. Claude Code edits videos that are already saved. **How do I use Bang AI in every project?** Add --scope user to the claude mcp add command, then sign in once with /mcp. Bang AI is then available in every folder you open. **Is my footage sent to Claude?** Claude Code reads your edit's script, captions and settings through the server to make changes.
