# B-roll examples

Published November 1, 2026 · Updated November 1, 2026

Good B-roll examples pair one spoken line with one shot that proves it. Below are nine for beauty, fitness and tech UGC, each with the line you say, the shot you film and why that shot fits that line. The lines and shots are ours, written for this page as examples. Then: how to pick the shot a line needs, and how Bang AI places a still on the line where you name it, or lays new footage under a line while your voice keeps playing.

## Examples

### "It's thinner than it looks"

Line: "It's much thinner than it looks in the bottle." Shot: one drop from the dropper onto the back of your hand, filmed close and level, then a finger spreading it.

**Why it works:** The line is about texture, which words can't prove. Seeing the drop spread does it in a second, before the next line starts.

- Beauty and skincare
- Close-up

### "Two weeks in, the redness is calmer"

Line: "Two weeks in, the redness is calmer." Shot: two stills of the same cheek, day one and day fourteen, same window, same time of day, joined side by side in one image.

**Why it works:** A result needs a fair comparison. Matching light and angle stops the viewer wondering whether the change is just the lighting.

- Beauty and skincare
- Before and after

### "One pump does my whole face"

Line: "One pump does my whole face." Shot: a single pump into your palm, then the open palm held up to the lens.

**Why it works:** It shows the amount, so the viewer can judge for themselves how long the bottle will last. The palm to the lens makes it feel like you're showing a friend.

- Beauty and skincare
- Hands at work

### "It clicks shut, so it doesn't leak"

Line: "It clicks shut, so it never leaks in my bag." Shot: your thumb pressing the lid closed, then the bottle turned upside down and shaken over the bag.

**Why it works:** Turning it upside down is the test a doubtful viewer would ask for. Doing it over the bag shows you trust it.

- Fitness and supplements
- Hands at work

### "It lives in my car"

Line: "I keep it in the car for straight after the gym." Shot: reaching into the car's door pocket in the car park and pulling it out.

**Why it works:** It places the product in a real routine. The viewer pictures their own car and their own trip home from the gym.

- Fitness and supplements
- Out in the world

### "It logs the set while I rest"

Line: "It logs the set for me while I rest." Shot: a screen recording of the workout app filling in the set, cropped to just that screen.

**Why it works:** The claim is that the app does the work, so the screen showing it happen without a tap is the proof.

- Fitness and supplements
- Screen

### "Two taps and it's sent"

Line: "Two taps and the invoice is sent." Shot: a screen recording of exactly those two taps, starting inside the app, not on the home screen.

**Why it works:** Counting the taps out loud and showing the same count on screen makes "easy" something the viewer can check.

- Tech, apps and gadgets
- Screen

### "The cable is braided, not rubber"

Line: "The cable is braided, not that rubber kind that splits." Shot: the cable bent tight between two fingers, close enough to see the weave.

**Why it works:** Bending it is the stress test people worry about, and the close framing lets the viewer see the material they're being told about.

- Tech, apps and gadgets
- Close-up

### "My desk before this hub, and after"

Line: "This was my desk before the hub, and this is it now." Shot: two overhead stills from the same spot, the tangle of cables, then the tidy version.

**Why it works:** A messy desk is something viewers recognise from their own, and the overhead angle makes the difference plain at a glance.

- Before and after

## One line, one shot

Each example starts from a sentence, not from the product. Write the script first, then go through it line by line and ask whether the viewer would believe that line more if they could see something. Most lines don't need a shot: your face saying them is enough. The ones that do are claims about texture, size, speed or a result, and those are the lines in the examples below.

Plan one shot per line and film it on purpose. Footage gathered at random rarely fits the sentence it ends up under.

## Picking the shot a line needs

- **A claim about feel or texture** needs a close-up, filmed level with the product and in daylight.
- **A claim about how easy it is** needs your hands doing it, once, at normal speed.
- **A claim about an app** needs the screen, showing only the taps you describe.
- **A claim about a result** needs a before and an after from the same angle and the same light.
- **A claim about your routine** needs the product where you really use it: the car, the gym bag, the desk.

If you can't think of a shot that proves the line, the line may be too vague. Rewrite it with a detail you can film.

## Cueing a still while you talk

Proof that is a picture, like a before photo, a screenshot or the label, works best as a still placed by voice. Add the image to your Overlays library and name it with the words you'll say, like "before after cheek". Then, while filming, say "overlay before after cheek" just before the line it belongs to. With Spoken Overlays on in [Auto Edit](https://morebangers.com/help/auto-edit/), Bang AI cuts the cue so nobody hears it and shows the image over the sentence beside it, clear of your face. Spoken Overlays starts off for a new version, so check it before you press Auto Edit.

A name that holds the words you say beats a match on what the image shows, so name each still plainly. Under Advanced, set how long [spoken overlays](https://morebangers.com/help/spoken-overlays/) stay up: an overlay lasts as long as its sentence, within a shortest time of 0.5 to 5 seconds and a longest of 2 to 20.

## Laying moving footage under your voice

Proof that needs motion, like a pour, a click or a scroll, goes in as footage. Use Extract audio on the clip where you say the line, then select it and press Replace. The new footage goes in muted and every sound stays where it was, so your sentence plays over the shot. On iPhone, Replace opens the camera so you can film the shot to fit; on the web, pick it from your clips or your computer. The new footage has to be at least as long as the clip it replaces. [Swap a clip](https://morebangers.com/help/swap-a-clip/) covers the details.

[B-roll](https://morebangers.com/glossary/b-roll/) covers the other ways Bang AI puts your shots on screen.

## Questions, answered.

**How many B-roll shots does a 30-second UGC video need?**

Only as many as it has lines that need proof, often two or three. The rest of the video can stay on your face, which is what makes UGC feel real.

**Does Bang AI add stock footage?**

No. Spoken overlays and Replace use your own images and footage, plus any image you ask Bang AI to make with Create Overlay's Describe. Shots of the real product usually convince more.

**Should B-roll go over my opening line?**

Usually not. Keep your face on the hook, and bring in the first shot on the line after it, where the claims start.
