# The best AI video editors for Mac

Published November 1, 2026 · Updated November 1, 2026

The best AI video editor for Mac is the one whose AI does the part of the edit you hate. If that is cleaning up a recording by its words, Descript leads; if it is turning a talking-to-camera clip into a short with no timeline work, Bang AI, which we make, is built for exactly that; if you want a professional timeline with AI helpers, Final Cut Pro and DaVinci Resolve are the two to learn. Details about other apps come from their Mac App Store listings and Descript's own pages, read on November 1, 2026.

Bang AI is on iPhone, the web and the Mac.

## How we ranked them

**How much of the cut the AI makes**: From helpers inside a timeline you drive, to an editor that cuts by the words, to a finished first version you only check.

**How wide a range it covers**: Talking videos only, or podcasts, screen recordings, films and effects too.

**How it fits a Mac**: The macOS it needs, exports from your original files, and shapes for TikTok, Reels and Shorts.

## At a glance

| Rank | App | Best for | In short |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 1 | [Descript](https://www.descript.com/) | Podcasts, screen recordings and long-form video | An editor where changing the transcript changes the video, with an AI co-editor, Underlord, that can turn a raw recording into a tight cut. |
| 2 | Bang AI for Mac | Talking-to-camera shorts for brands, shops and your own account | Our AI video editor for talking-to-camera clips. Auto Edit makes the cut, and the Mac adds the full timeline and full-quality exports. |
| 3 | [Final Cut Pro](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/final-cut-pro/id424389933) | Hands-on editing of any kind of video on a Mac | Apple's professional editor, with AI captions from spoken audio, AI masking and Smart Conform for square and vertical delivery. |
| 4 | [DaVinci Resolve](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/davinci-resolve/id571213070) | Editors who also grade colour, add effects and mix sound | Editing, colour, visual effects and audio post in one app, with AI cutting tools named under DaVinci Resolve Studio. |

## Pros and cons

### 1\. Descript

An editor where changing the transcript changes the video, with an AI co-editor, Underlord, that can turn a raw recording into a tight cut.

#### Pros

- Edit your words to edit your video
- Remove Filler Words and Remove Retakes in one click
- Studio Sound, Eye Contact and captions
- A desktop app for macOS 14 or later, per its download page

#### Cons

- Its pages lead with team, podcast and long-form video
- A download from descript.com; we found no Mac App Store listing from it

### 2\. Bang AI for Mac

Our AI video editor for talking-to-camera clips. Auto Edit makes the cut, and the Mac adds the full timeline and full-quality exports.

#### Pros

- Auto Edit cuts silence, repeated tries and unclear lines
- Batch Auto Edit cuts up to 20 videos at once
- Export Pack: 9:16, 4:5 and 1:1, with and without captions
- Edit like a video cuts your clips at another video's pace

#### Cons

- It cuts by speech, in English or Spanish, so it isn't for montages
- Needs macOS 15 or later on Apple silicon, and doesn't film

### 3\. Final Cut Pro

Apple's professional editor, with AI captions from spoken audio, AI masking and Smart Conform for square and vertical delivery.

#### Pros

- Generate Captions makes closed captions or animated subtitles from speech
- Magnetic Mask tracks and isolates people, objects and shapes
- Smart Conform reshapes projects for square or vertical
- Background noise reduction that isolates vocals

#### Cons

- Removing filler words or pauses isn't listed
- Needs macOS 26.6 or later, per its listing

### 4\. DaVinci Resolve

Editing, colour, visual effects and audio post in one app, with AI cutting tools named under DaVinci Resolve Studio.

#### Pros

- Editing, colour, Fusion effects and Fairlight audio in one app
- A cut page with a vertical timeline layout for fast turnarounds
- Closed caption and subtitling tools
- Studio adds IntelliCut to remove silence, and IntelliScript

#### Cons

- Its listing names the AI cutting tools under DaVinci Resolve Studio
- The App Store version may not support some control panels and plug-ins

## Two kinds of AI editor

Some editors put AI inside a timeline you still drive. Final Cut Pro's Generate Captions and Magnetic Mask save you steps, and DaVinci Resolve Studio's IntelliCut and IntelliScript go further, removing silence and building a timeline from script text, but you still shape the edit on a timeline.

Others start from what was said. Descript turns the recording into a transcript, so deleting words deletes video, and its Underlord assistant can make a first cut. Bang AI goes one step further for one kind of video: press Auto Edit and it picks your best lines, cuts the silence and your repeated tries, and hands you a finished version to check. Know which kind you want before you compare features.

## Which one to pick

- **Podcasts and screen recordings**: Descript, whose pages name both.
- **Talking-to-camera shorts for brands or your own account**: Bang AI for Mac.
- **Everything else, edited by hand, in Apple's ecosystem**: Final Cut Pro.
- **Colour grading, effects and audio post in one app**: DaVinci Resolve.

Many creators use two: a fast AI editor for the daily talking videos, and a timeline editor for the few that need effects. Bang AI can sit beside either one, since it exports ordinary video files you can open anywhere.

## What a Mac changes

A Mac gives you the big timeline, a mouse and full-quality exports from the files on its disk. That matters most at the end of an edit, when you are fixing one cut or one caption, and when you export the same video in several shapes.

[Bang AI for Mac](https://morebangers.com/mac/) needs macOS 15 or later and Apple silicon. Your originals stay on the Mac, so it exports at full quality, up to 4K at 60 fps, and [Export Pack](https://morebangers.com/help/export-pack/) makes 9:16, 4:5 and 1:1 with and without captions in one go. Final Cut Pro's listing asks for macOS 26.6 or later, DaVinci Resolve's for macOS 15 or later on Apple silicon, and Descript's download page for macOS 14 or later.

## When the AI gets a cut wrong

Every AI editor gets some cuts wrong. What matters is how fast you can fix one. In Descript you fix the transcript. In Final Cut Pro and DaVinci Resolve you fix the timeline, the way you always have.

In Bang AI you open the version in the editor: [swap](https://morebangers.com/help/swap-a-clip/) a line for another recording of it, trim a clip, or click a caption word to fix it. Every Auto Edit makes a new version, so running it again with other options never replaces one you already have. On the Mac, Video, then Re-cut, starts another from the menu bar.

## How we checked them

Final Cut Pro and DaVinci Resolve come from their Mac App Store listings. Descript comes from descript.com and its download page, since we used its own pages rather than a listing. All were read on November 1, 2026, and we repeat only what they say. Prices are left out because they change. Descript ranks first because its AI cuts by the words across many kinds of recording, from podcasts to screen recordings. Bang AI's Auto Edit makes more of the cut, but only for talking-to-camera clips, and Final Cut Pro and DaVinci Resolve cover the widest range with the least AI cutting. Final Cut Pro sits above DaVinci Resolve because its listing names AI captions, Magnetic Mask and Smart Conform in the app itself, while DaVinci Resolve's listing names its AI cutting under DaVinci Resolve Studio. We make Bang AI, and its details come from its [Mac page](https://morebangers.com/mac/) and [help guides](https://morebangers.com/help/), so weigh our view of it accordingly.

## Questions, answered.

**Which Mac video editor removes filler words automatically?**

Descript's pages list Remove Filler Words and Remove Retakes. Bang AI's Auto Edit cuts silence and repeated tries in every version, and um, uh and erm while Remove Ums is on.

**Does Final Cut Pro have AI features?**

Yes. Its Mac App Store listing names Generate Captions, which captions from spoken audio, Magnetic Mask, which isolates people and objects, and Smart Conform for square or vertical video.

**Is DaVinci Resolve's AI in the regular version?**

Its listing names IntelliCut, which removes silence, IntelliScript and animated subtitles under DaVinci Resolve Studio.

**Can Bang AI for Mac edit many videos at once?**

Yes. Batch Auto Edit in the iPhone and Mac apps cuts up to 20 videos at once, and each folder you drag in becomes one video named after it.

**Does Bang AI for Mac record video?**

No. The Mac app edits clips you have filmed elsewhere. Film on your iPhone, with its teleprompter if you like, or with any camera, then drag the files in.
